B i o g r a p h y

The pianist Nijolė Abaryté was born in Vilnius (Lithuania), is fluent in five languages and lives in her adopted homeland Switzerland. She graduated at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and was student of K.A.Kolly, A.Desponds, W.Prossnitz and H. Sakagami. Abaryté has recorded her own compositions and works of M.K.Ciurlionis for Canada's National Public Radio Broadcaster and the National Radio of Lithuania.

 

Since 2012 she is the artistic director of the chamber music concert series Freigut in Zurich.

 

Solo and performances with orchestras: Lucerne Festival (Switzerland), Koroni Festival (Greece, annually), Piraeus Municipal Art Gallery (Greece), International Mani Sonnenlink Summer Festival (Greece, 2015/16), theater projects with the Ballet Company of Françoise port (Switzerland, 2016), the Lithuanian independence celebration as guest of honor (Boston, USA; 2016) and others.

 

As a guest lecturer Abaryté will teach this year at the Summer Academy of Arts in Boston. At present, the multiple winner of various competitions gives their talent further on to their pupils that were already operating successfully at national competitions. As a jury member, the pianist supported e.g. at Voces Lituaniae to promote new talents.
